Top 10 Lies The Young Turks Tell About Israel

The Young Turks claim they "never play with the facts" and represent "unflinching honesty." Their Israel coverage tells a different story. Here are the TEN most egregious lies TYT spreads to their audience.

1. AIPAC Represents Foreign Interests

The Lie: TYT repeatedly claims AIPAC is a "foreign lobbyist" group pushing Israel's agenda on America.

The Truth: AIPAC comprises American citizens exercising their First Amendment rights to advocate for causes they care about - exactly as the political system is designed to function. Italian Americans advocate for Italy. Greek Americans advocate for Greece. Only when the country is Israel and the community is Jewish does TYT call this "foreign lobbying" - a centuries-old anti-Semitic trope.

2. Israel Steals Land and Pursues "Greater Israel"

The Lie: TYT claims Israel "steals" land, pursues territorial expansion, and pursues a "Greater Israel" agenda.

The Truth: Israel's territory has shrunk, not grown, since 1967. In 1982, Israel returned the entire Sinai Peninsula to Egypt through peace accords. In 2005, Israel withdrew completely from Gaza, forcibly removing Israeli settlers. Israel maintains security buffer zones in specific areas - not because it wants to own that territory, but because those areas have been weaponized to launch attacks on Israeli civilians. A nation struggling to defend what it currently controls does not voluntarily return conquered territory or pursue territorial expansion. The data proves the expansion narrative is false.

3. The Nakba: A Tragic Consequence of the War Arab Nations Started and Lost

The Lie: TYT portrays the Nakba as Israel's deliberate campaign to displace Palestinians.

The Truth: In 1947, Israel accepted the UN Partition Plan offering Palestinians statehood. Every Arab nation and Palestinian leadership rejected it. When Israel declared independence in 1948, five Arab nations invaded with the explicit goal of committing genocide against Jews. Palestinian displacement occurred during this war of aggression - initiated by Palestinians and their Arab allies, not by Israel.

4. Israel Attacks All Its Neighbors Unprovoked

The Lie: TYT characterizes Israel as an aggressive nation constantly waging war on surrounding countries.

The Truth: Israel targets only areas used to launch attacks against Israeli civilians or pose direct military threats. The 1967 Six-Day War exemplifies this: Arab states massed 400,000 troops on Israel's borders while openly declaring genocidal intentions. Israel's preemptive strike was a defensive measure by a nation facing annihilation.

5. Palestinians Want a Two-State Solution

The Lie: TYT claims Palestinians seek statehood and that a two-state solution is achievable if Israel just compromises. They present Netanyahu and right wing Israeli politicans as the impediment to peace.

The Truth: Palestinians have never demonstrated genuine interest in statehood. In 1947, they rejected the UN Partition Plan offering them their own state. Every time a two-state solution has been offered since, Palestinian leadership has rejected it - because their actual goal is not partition but the prevention of any Jewish state in the Middle East. TYT won't tell their audience that Palestinian political leadership openly advocates for Israel's destruction, not coexistence.

6. "Zionists Think Israeli Lives Matter More Than Muslim Lives"

The Lie: TYT constantly claims that Zionists - people who support Israel's right to exist - "hate Muslims" and believe "Israeli lives matter more than dirty Muslim lives."

The Truth: This is a blood libel. People who support Israel oppose radical Islamic terrorists - not Muslims. Most Jewish Israelis have Muslim friends. Arab citizens of Israel enjoy better human rights protections and economic prospects than Arabs anywhere else in the Middle East. Arabs in Israel have religious freedom, freedom of sexual expression (unavailable elsewhere in the Middle East), and equal legal rights. TYT deliberately conflates opposition to terrorism with hatred of Islam to demonize Israel supporters.

7. The Gaza War Was Genocide

The Lie: TYT calls the 2023-2026 Gaza conflict a "genocide" dozens of times daily.

The Truth: No genocide in history was started and prolonged by its victims. The Gaza death toll would have been nearly zero without October 7, and would have been dramatically lower if Hamas had released hostages in 2023 instead of perpetuating war. Hamas deliberately used Palestinian civilians as human shields - a documented war crime that inflated civilian casualty numbers.

8. Israel Is an Apartheid State

The Lie: TYT regularly calls Israel an "apartheid state" that treats Arabs as less than human.

The Truth: Two million Arab Israelis live peacefully alongside Jewish, Christian, and Druze Israelis. Israel is the only country in the Middle East where this religious and ethnic coexistence happens. Arabs in Israel have better human rights protections than Arabs anywhere else in the Middle East and far better than in neighboring nations. They enjoy religious freedom, freedom of sexual expression (a right that doesn't exist anywhere else in the Middle East), and equal legal rights. The apartheid label is propaganda designed to delegitimize Israel.

9. Israel Doesn't Face Real Danger From Iran And Its Proxies

The Lie: TYT frames Israel's conflict with Iran as a typical "regional power struggle."

The Truth: Iran's entire 47-year agenda - shared identically by its proxies Hezbollah and the Houthis - is committing genocide against the Jewish State. Iran transformed a historically Christian nation (Lebanon) into a Shiite terrorist proxy (Hezbollah) specifically to advance this genocidal agenda. All three actors - Iran, Hezbollah, the Houthis - openly declare their goal of destroying Israel. TYT characterizes this as Iran "helping the Lebanese people" - deliberately omitting that Iran's sole purpose is destroying Israel and killing Israelis, and that Iran's proxies are fully aligned with this genocidal goal.

10. Israeli Security Presence Is Colonial Occupation & Expansion

The Lie: TYT characterizes Israeli military operations in territories like Gaza and southern Lebanon as "imperialism" and "invasion."

The Truth: Israel maintains security buffer zones in areas repeatedly used to launch attacks against Israeli civilians. These are military operations, not territorial expansion. Unlike colonies, these zones contain virtually no Israeli civilian populations and represent enormous financial and resource drains. Israel maintains them because withdrawal enables those territories to be weaponized against Israeli civilians - a lesson learned from Gaza.

The Pattern

These ten lies share a common feature: they omit critical context that would undermine TYT's predetermined narrative. TYT isn't reporting facts - it's selectively presenting information to create a false story.

When Cenk Uygur and Ana Kasparian claim to represent "unflinching honesty," they're banking on their audience never fact-checking their claims. They're betting that inflammatory soundbites will stick harder than inconvenient truths.

If TYT truly believed in their mission statement, they would:

  • Present the full historical record, not sanitized versions
  • Acknowledge Palestinian leadership's repeated rejection of statehood offers
  • Explain why Israeli security concerns are rooted in documented threats, not fabrication
  • Discuss the real-world consequences of their rhetoric - radicalization and violence against Jewish communities

Until they do, their claims of journalistic integrity remain hollow marketing masking propaganda.

October 7th War in Gaza (2023-2025) - Lies & Half-Truths

The October 7 Catalyst TYT's coverage of the Arab-Israeli conflict has long favored the Palestinian narrative, but October 7 marked a turning point. That's when they went all in on the dishonesty, cranking up their anti-Israel bias to extreme levels. Now they're throwing around the word "genocide" dozens, sometimes a hundred times daily, describing the wars in Gaza, Lebanon, and Iran using the most inflammatory language possible. Conveniently, they never mention that these territories are controlled by and harbor terrorists who have launched thousands of attacks against Israel - all with the openly stated aim of commiting a genocide of Israelis.  Who Started The Oct 7 Gaza War? TYT almost never reminds their viewers about a basic fact: who actually started the 2023 Gaza war. Thousands of Hamas fighters and thousands of ordinary Palestinian civilians crossed into Israel and carried out the worst atrocities against Jews since the Holocaust . They did it on orders fr...

No-one Is Allowed to Criticize Beloved Israel!

TYT Lies To Their Audience For years now, Cenk Uygur, Ana Kasparian and most of the commentators on The Young Turks network have been broadcasting strong anti-Israel commentary to their viewers, then insisting that criticism of their coverage is really just about Israel being "untouchable." In Cenk's exact words - "no-one is allowed to criticize beloved Israel." You hear this talking point over and over again if you watch their YouTube channel - it is repeated dozens of times daily. It's easy to see why their audience believes it, given how often they hear it repeated. It does not reflect reality though. Nobody - literally nobody - has ever said that the  problem with TYT's coverage is that they criticize Israel . This is what logicians call a strawman argument - you defeat a position that the other side never took, then act like you've won the debate. When Cenk Uygur and his nephew Hasan Piker - who said on Twitch that he would "vote for Hamas...

Ideological Lies & Half-Truths

Cenk Uygur claims repeatedly that he backs a two-state solution, telling audiences he wants Israelis and Palestinians to live safely, securely and in peace. It sounds great. The problem is that Uygur's vision is completely disconnected from reality. TYT and Cenk systematically mislead their audience into believing that the Palestinians' goal is statehood. This is a blatant lie. The Palestinians have never demonstrated any interest in having their own state. The two-state solution and Palestinian statehood is a Western fantasy, something various politicians and ideologues dreamed up. For many years, much of Israel's population supported it too. But the past couple decades, especially after October 7, have changed that calculus. When TYT tells their audience that Palestinians seek a two-state solution living peacefully alongside Israel, they're deliberately misrepresenting the Palestinian position. And they're doing the same with regard to the Palestinians' spons...
