Beneath the "Unaligned" Facade
Ana Kasparian presents herself as an independent voice for truth, justice, and fairness. Her Substack is literally titled "Unaligned." She claims to be a feminist and champion of the oppressed, and over the past decade or two, she has done genuinely noteworthy work in these areas. She deserves credit for that work.
In recent years, Ana has even broken with far-left orthodoxy on some issues. She spoke out about homelessness and crime in California after being assaulted by a vagrant, challenging the left's tendency to deny the problem. She's taken sensible positions on trans rights, refusing to embrace the far-left view that trans women should compete in women's sports. She claims to collaborate with elements across the political spectrum - working with figures like Matt Gaetz, Candace Owens, and Tucker Carlson when they find common ground on issues like campaign finance reform.
Yet this narrative of principled independence obscures a deeper reality. Ana's true common ground with the far-right fringe is not about shared principles or policy collaboration. It is something far more fundamental and far more revealing.
The Real Alliance: Anti-Zionism as Unifying Force
Ana Kasparian has found her deepest ideological alignment with MAGA and far-right hate merchants through a shared hatred of Israel and Zionism. By extension, this means a hatred of the vast majority of American Jews who support Zionism in some form - whether they support the current Israeli government's policies or not.
The critical dishonesty begins with how Ana and Cenk misrepresent what Zionism actually is. They routinely cite statistics like "63% of American Jews are opposed to the government of Israel" as proof that "American Jews do not support Zionism." This is pure sleight of hand. Opposing the policies of the Israeli government is not the same as opposing Zionism or Israel's right to exist. Millions of Zionists - both inside and outside Israel - disagree with specific Israeli government policies while remaining committed Zionists. They believe in the Jewish State's right to exist, in its current location, and they support Israel's right to maintain security control over territory it won in defensive wars and that has been used to launch thousands of attacks against Israeli civilians.
In this 26th June broadcast, Ana claimed that "young Americans really don't care whether or not Israel exists".
Ana makes no distinction between the various strands of Zionism that exist. Instead, she lumps all Zionists together as a monolith, falsely suggesting they all embrace extreme positions like "Greater Israel." The empirical reality - that the vast majority of Zionists oppose West Bank settlement building and demand accountability for settler violence - never factors into Ana's framing. This dishonesty serves her audience's worldview. They hate Zionists and Zionism. They want the Jewish State weakened and destroyed. In the post-October 7 world, they barely bother hiding this ideology anymore.
Open Support for Islamist "Resistance"
Ana Kasparian openly celebrates Hezbollah, Hamas, and Iranian "resistance" to Zionism. She has gloated to her audience about the deaths of IDF soldiers, celebrating those deaths without any evidence whatsoever that the fallen soldiers had personally ordered or committed any crimes. She and Cenk demonize the entire Israeli Defense Force, describing them collectively as terrorists and suggesting they deserve to be murdered by Islamist groups.
This is not principled opposition to government policy. This is not reasoned critique of specific military actions. This is ideological alignment with organizations that have explicitly stated their goal is the annihilation of Israel and have committed thousands of attacks to that end.
Ana dismisses Islamist threats to Israel's survival by shrugging and saying it's "Israel's problem, not ours." This from someone who claims to care about peace and justice.
The Genocide Hypocrisy
Ana Kasparian claims to stand against genocide. The facts tell a different story. She shows no interest in the actual genocides occurring in Sudan, Yemen, Afghanistan, and China. The only "genocide" she obsesses over is the one she can use to pour scorn on Israel. Actual genocides don't seem to interest her.
More tellingly, Ana claims to support peace while simultaneously opposing virtually every peace agreement Israel negotiates. When Israel and Lebanon's government reached a peace deal in June 2026, Ana and Cenk were vociferous in their opposition. This is not the position of someone genuinely committed to ending conflict. This is the position of someone committed to preventing Israel from achieving security and normalcy.
Ana and Cenk showed their true colors in this June 27th video,with their vehement demonization of Americans who believe that Israel has a right to exist.
Are these really the sentiments of people who are against genocide?
The Lebanon Pattern: Omission and Distortion
Recent events in Lebanon reveal Ana's consistent pattern of deception. Rather than acknowledging the thousands of rockets Hezbollah has fired into Israel over decades - causing mass displacement of Israeli civilians in the north - Ana and Cenk attack Israel for responding militarily. They frame the Israeli military operations as a land grab, claiming Israel is using the Hezbollah threat as cover for territorial theft. She openly roots for Hezbollah and insists they are entirely justified in attacking Israeli forces.
What Ana never tells her audience is the fundamental context: Israel is in Lebanon because Hezbollah has been attacking Israeli territory for years. The "invasion" she condemns is a response to sustained rocket bombardment and terrorist attacks. As detailed in this comprehensive analysis, Ana's framing bears no resemblance to reality.
In this video from June 30 2026, we see Ana and Cenk actively rooting for Hezbollah. Cenk begins by discussing Israeli military action - bombing Hezbollah positions - mischaracterizing it as Israel "bombing Lebanon", while strategically omitting the fact that Hezbollah violated the ceasefire by attacking Israeli forces first. He mentions only the Israeli response, not the Islamist provocations that prompted it. This is the consistent tactic: isolate Israeli actions, omit the context that would explain those actions, and present Israel as the aggressor.
"Puppets Of The US And Israel"
Ana and Cenk employ another dishonest tactic when discussing Middle Eastern governments that oppose radical Islamism: they dismiss those leaders as "puppets" of the USA and Israel. They preemptively demonize figures like Reza Pahlavi, the Iranian exile who represents a potential alternative to the theocratic regime, specifically because he advocates for peace with Israel. This reveals the core commitment: Ana and Cenk support "resistance to Israel" above all other considerations, even when that resistance is explicitly dedicated to genocide, has killed thousands of Israelis, and oppresses hundreds of millions of innocent Middle East Arabs in the furtherance of that "resistance".
The Unaligned Lie
Ana Kasparian is not unaligned. She is aligned - deeply and consistently - with a specific ideological position: the opposition to Jewish self-determination in the Middle East. She works to build this coalition with figures across the political spectrum because anti-Zionism has become the unifying force of a particular faction. It draws together far-right extremists, progressive activists, Islamists, and cynical political operators.
This is the uncomfortable truth beneath Ana's claims of principle. She champions the oppressed selectively - only when their cause aligns with anti-Zionism. She works for women's rights while supporting organizations that brutalize women. She celebrates democracy while rooting for terrorist groups dedicated to genocide. She claims to want peace while opposing every peace agreement that would calm tensions between Israel and its neighbors. She presents herself as an independent truth-teller while engaging in systematic deception and omission.
Ana Kasparian is not an unaligned independent voice. She is a committed partisan of a specific ideological position, and that position is fundamentally dishonest about Israel, Zionism, and the Jewish people.
