Ideological Lies & Half-Truths

Cenk Uygur claims repeatedly that he backs a two-state solution, telling audiences he wants Israelis and Palestinians to live safely, securely and in peace. It sounds great. The problem is that Uygur's vision is completely disconnected from reality.

TYT and Cenk systematically mislead their audience into believing that the Palestinians' goal is statehood. This is a blatant lie. The Palestinians have never demonstrated any interest in having their own state. The two-state solution and Palestinian statehood is a Western fantasy, something various politicians and ideologues dreamed up. For many years, much of Israel's population supported it too. But the past couple decades, especially after October 7, have changed that calculus.

When TYT tells their audience that Palestinians seek a two-state solution living peacefully alongside Israel, they're deliberately misrepresenting the Palestinian position. And they're doing the same with regard to the Palestinians' sponsors and backers  - Iran, Hezbollah, and the Houthis - none of whom have any interest whatsoever in a Palestinian state coexisting with a Jewish Israel. These are central facts about the conflict. TYT's refusal to share them with their audience amounts to calculated deception.

TYT constantly attacks Netanyahu as the "obstacle to peace." What they never mention is that every time a two-state solution has been offered, Palestinians have said no - because they're fundamentally opposed to peace with a Jewish state. Cenk and Ana won't admit this to viewers.

TYT also won't tell their audience that the entire Palestinian political class and societal leadership refuse to acknowledge Israel as a legitimate country, and that almost all Palestinian politicians openly advocate for the destruction of Israel. This ideology seems widespread in Western pro-Palestine circles too. But TYT pretends it doesn't exist. They downplay it. They act like it's not really part of the movement.

Cenk, Ana, and the rest of the TYT team regularly voice support for Hezbollah, the Houthis, and Iran's efforts to oppose Israel in its goal of living without its citizenry being murdered. TYT do this despite knowing - and rarely mentioning - that Iran's explicit stated objective is wiping Israel off the map. Ana has occasionally been candid about this, noting that Israelis would be in serious danger without American protection, but she brushes it off with a shrug as "not our problem." That callous indifference to a promised genocide contrasts starkly with TYT's absolute, unconditional backing of Palestinians and purported stance against genocide. The hypocrisy is breathtaking.

Cenk often mocks Israelis with a Mr. Burns-style hand gesture, sneering "ohhh we're the victims!" But he never levels with his audience that Israel is literally the only country on Earth that its neighbors have targeted for destruction. Cenk never bothered to tell his audience about the Iranian countdown clock - the one that literally tracked days until Israel's annihilation, scheduled for 2040 or earlier. That clock got destroyed during the June 2025 Iran-Israel conflict.

The Brutal Occupation

TYT constantly brings up the "brutal occupation" of Gaza and the West Bank as the rationale for Palestinian "resistance." What TYT won't say is that Palestinians have been committed to destroying Israel long before any occupation existed. For 19 years before Israel was in the West Bank and Gaza, and for the 59 years since 1967, Palestinian leadership - both religious and political - has remained dedicated to Israel's destruction. TYT strips away this context because they treat their viewers as sheep who can't handle complexity.

TYT never explain to their audience that the "brutal occupation" was a direct consequence of the Arabs of Palestine, backed by the armies of the surrounding countries, attempting to commit a holocaust of Israelis.

TYT never tells viewers that the Palestinian regime's financial and military backers in Iran, Qatar, Yemen, and Lebanon are similarly committed to Israel's annihilation.

TYT talks about extreme Israeli politicians. It's true.  Like all countries, Israel does have some extremists. But TYT never bothers mentioning that Gaza and the West Bank are controlled almost entirely by politicians dedicated to genocide against Israelis. Given the Arab dedication to commiting a genocide of Jews, it would be remarkable if there were not some extreme politicians in Israel.  In fact, it it is remarkable that there are so few extreme policians in Israel. We hear about Ben Gvir and Bezalal Smotrich a lot - because they along with a handful of others are the only ones in Israel who say things that are extreme enough to be noteworthy.  That should speak for itself - but TYT, Cenk and Ana will never be honest about this with their audience. They'll never tell their audience the truth that such extreme attitudes are held by a small minority of Israelis.

TYT never educates their audience about the Palestinian Arab leader, Haj Amin Al Husseini - a man who collaborated with Adolf Hitler and participated in the Nazi project to eliminate Jews from existence.

TYT never inform their audience of Haj Amin Al Husseini's infamous 1930s directive to his people: "Kill the Jews wherever you find them. This pleases God and your religion." They never explain that this ideology has remained part of Palestinian Arab culture right up to today.

TYT never tells audiences about the foundational Arab conviction that "Jews will not control one square inch of land in the Middle East."

The Apartheid Lie

TYT regularly lies when they describe Israel as an "apartheid state" that treats Arabs as less than human. What they won't tell viewers is that 2 million Arab Israelis live side by side with Jewish, Christian, and Druze Israelis - peacefully. It's the only country in the Middle East where this kind of religious and ethnic coexistence happens.

TYT won't tell audiences the truth: Arabs living in Israel have better human rights protections than Arabs anywhere else in the Middle East, and better economic prospects too.

Arabs in Israel enjoy religious freedom - something most other Middle Eastern countries don't permit.

Arabs in Israel have freedom of sexual expression - a right that literally doesn't exist anywhere else in the Middle East. In every other Middle Eastern country, LGBTQ people face persecution and sometimes execution. Spousal rape isn't even a crime in many Middle Eastern nations. TYT never brings this up.

TYT ignores the gender apartheid crushing over 250 million women across the Middle East. Ana Kasparian presents herself as a feminist, but she's completely uninterested in speaking about this subject because her audience doesn't want to hear about anything that paints Islamists in a negative light.

Cenk and Ana constantly tell their viewers that Zionists - people who support Israel's right to exist - "hate Muslims" and think "Israeli lives matter more than dirty Muslim lives.".  Cenk frquently uses the phrase "dirty Muslims" when mischaracterizing the attitude of people who favor Israel existing.  This is among the most despicable falsehoods TYT spreads, and they repeat it constantly.

They level this accusation against individuals, governments, political parties, lobbyists like AIPAC, media outlets, commentators, influencers, and the entire American political and media establishment.

This is provably false. It's slander. It's a blood libel.

People who support Israel oppose radical Islamic terrorists. Not Muslims.

Cenk and Ana never tell their audience this distinction. They deliberately frame everything as religion-based. They push this idea that the world is divided into people pro-Muslims or anti-Muslims, pro-Israel or anti-Israel - as if nuance is impossible, as if there's no gray area, no different groups within Jewish and Muslim communities with complicated, mixed views about both sides. TYT treats viewers like they're stupid.

Cenk and Ana constantly misrepresent Israeli political attitudes. They portray Israelis as far-right extremists who despise Muslims and see Palestinians as subhuman.

They'll never be honest with their audience about the fact that most Jewish Israelis have Muslim friends - Arabs living in Israel who have virtually all the same rights as Jewish citizens, and actually get some benefits Jews don't, like exemption from military service. Cenk and Ana have never told audiences that Israel's early decades were dominated by left-wing socialist politics, and that the people murdered on October 7 were mostly from communities that backed Palestinian statehood and worked for peace.

Cenk and Ana never explain that Israel's rightward political movement directly corresponds with increasing radical Islamic terror from its neighbors. As Palestinian attacks became more frequent, more brutal, more depraved, Israeli public opinion hardened accordingly.

The actual evidence shows Israelis reject terrorism, not Islam.

October 7th War in Gaza (2023-2025) - Lies & Half-Truths

The October 7 Catalyst TYT's coverage of the Arab-Israeli conflict has long favored the Palestinian narrative, but October 7 marked a turning point. That's when they went all in on the dishonesty, cranking up their anti-Israel bias to extreme levels. Now they're throwing around the word "genocide" dozens, sometimes a hundred times daily, describing the wars in Gaza, Lebanon, and Iran using the most inflammatory language possible. Conveniently, they never mention that these territories are controlled by and harbor terrorists who have launched thousands of attacks against Israel - all with the openly stated aim of commiting a genocide of Israelis.  Who Started The Oct 7 Gaza War? TYT almost never reminds their viewers about a basic fact: who actually started the 2023 Gaza war. Thousands of Hamas fighters and thousands of ordinary Palestinian civilians crossed into Israel and carried out the worst atrocities against Jews since the Holocaust . They did it on orders fr...

No-one Is Allowed to Criticize Beloved Israel!

TYT Lies To Their Audience For years now, Cenk Uygur, Ana Kasparian and most of the commentators on The Young Turks network have been broadcasting strong anti-Israel commentary to their viewers, then insisting that criticism of their coverage is really just about Israel being "untouchable." In Cenk's exact words - "no-one is allowed to criticize beloved Israel." You hear this talking point over and over again if you watch their YouTube channel - it is repeated dozens of times daily. It's easy to see why their audience believes it, given how often they hear it repeated. It does not reflect reality though. Nobody - literally nobody - has ever said that the  problem with TYT's coverage is that they criticize Israel . This is what logicians call a strawman argument - you defeat a position that the other side never took, then act like you've won the debate. When Cenk Uygur and his nephew Hasan Piker - who said on Twitch that he would "vote for Hamas...
